For our client, a well-established and growing company based in Bratislava, Slovakia, we are seeking a highly dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to strengthen their finance department.

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Accountant for our client, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of their financial records and ensuring smooth accounting operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

• General Ledger Management: Overseeing and managing general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reconciliation.
• Month-End/Year-End Close: Leading and executing month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and financial statement preparation.
• Financial Reporting: Preparing various financial reports, analyses, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/Slovak GAAP).
• Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight: Reviewing and ensuring accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Fixed Assets Management: Maintaining fixed asset registers, processing depreciation, and ensuring proper accounting for asset acquisitions and disposals.
• Tax Compliance: Assisting with the preparation of tax returns (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax) and ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
• Audit Support: Supporting external and internal audits by preparing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements to accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Mentorship: Potentially guiding and mentoring junior accounting staff.

What You'll Bring:

We're looking for a candidate who is not only technically proficient but also a proactive problem-solver with strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or equivalent Slovak certification) is a significant advantage.
• Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) in an accounting role, with a focus on general ledger and financial reporting, preferably within a [mention relevant industry, if applicable, e.g., manufacturing, services, shared service center] environment.
• Accounting Standards: Strong knowledge of Slovak accounting standards (Slovak GAAP) and/or IFRS is essential.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; extensive experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pohoda, KROS) is required.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all financial record-keeping and reporting.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify discrepancies and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills in both Slovak and English.
• Organization: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proactiveness: A self-starter who is reliable, responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
